Today we just want to give you a short one because we are aware that today is a busy one, full of family and friends, whether you spend your day in front of the TV or shuffling from house to house.
I just wanted to take a moment of your time, out of the busyness, to reflect and think about WHY we are busy. I know how easy it will be for me to go through this day and completely forget that it's all about Jesus. So I write this in the hope that we will all stop for 5 minutes to say thank you for all that we are celebrating. To stop and be reminded of the baby that was born this time 2018 years ago… The most special baby to ever grace this earth. To think of the young girl, Mary, who was told that she was going to have a son and her husband that knew he had to be responsible for bringing up the son of God, a son that wasn't biologically his. What an incredibly scary thing that must have been. To imagine what the angels were like, singing and rejoicing at the birth. To think of the shepherds, minding their own business in the fields, chosen to go meet and greet this special child.
So many things we can think of today, it might take more than 5 minutes reflection but maybe you can take it into your day… While you're mindlessly chopping carrots, lighting the fire or flicking through movie choices. I strongly encourage you to take some time to focus your mind on Jesus and just ask that he doesn't let the presents and food and TV shows take over in the coming days.
In whatever this day for you, I pray that you and your loved ones can celebrate the birth of Jesus together with love and joy in abundance.
Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you ☺
